This is a time to reflect, learn and plan. No doubt there are many things you enjoyed about 2010 and there are also things you did not enjoy. Reflect on those things you had control of. Do not waste your time on things you have no control over. Whatever you did well in 2010, repeat it in 2011.
Consider first your own behaviours as a manager! Did you behave professionally in 2010. Did you spend quality time with your team members? What did you do well and what do you need to change. Build a list. Rank the items based on importance.
Be honest. Take yourself in to account and judge yourself wisely.
Choose one or two things that you plan to improve in 2011. Build a plan of action to develop those things. Start January 3rd, 2011 to build a better you!
Reflect, Learn, Plan, then act. Of all of these steps, reflection is the most valuable for it allows you to focus.
